Subject: Got your corn in?

Crawford County, Robinson, Illinois

Below is a post asking about terms for combining, we always picked corn and cut beans, using a combine for both operations.

That reminded me of another terminology question I always questioned, when you plant corn and get finished, is the corn all in (as in the ground) or is it all out (as out of the bag and planted).  I have heard both, then when using the combine, I have also heard when someone asks about getting the crop harvested, "Is your corn all out?" (as in out of the field) or "Is your corn all in?" (as in the bin.

Seemed to me that when you plant corn (or any crop) and finish it is all in, when you finish combining the crops it is all out.

Trivial question, makes no difference, but it is winter and cold, so the season is here to ask that type of question.
