Lapel, In | What translation are you using Skipper?My Ecclesiastes 8:7 NRSV version,Life Application Study Bible. says "Since no man knows the future,who can tell him what is to come?" Do you mean chapter 8 verse 11? "When the sentence for a crime is not carried out quickly, the hearts of the people are filled with schemes to do wrong."
LASB commentary: If God does not punish us immediately,we must not assume that He doesn't care or that sin has no consequences,even though it is easy to sin when we don't feel the consequences right away.When a young child does something wrong and the wrong is not discovered,it will be much easier for the child to repeat the act.But God knows every wrong we commit and one day we will have to answer for all that we have done.(see 12:14) "For God will bring every deed into judgement,including every hidden thing, whether good or bad." | |
