So Illinois | If you follow the river downstream a few miles, you'll see where the shipping canal splits off the Mississippi and that is an island that is farmed. Notice where the 2 rivers come together, it looks like the Missouri is sending a little dirt downstream. There's a road that will bring you all the way to the convergence(sp) with a lookout. You can even see that standing at ground level in person. Can also see it where the Ohio and Mississippi come together at Cairo, IL.
