So the plumber came and put new boiler drains on.  Affixed them with pipe dope and white plastic tape (on the threads).  Washer then worked fine. 

However, about 1 hour after he left, the hot one is leaking AGAIN.  How annoying.  Will have to get in touch with him again. 

Wish I knew what the deal is.

I am in the process of getting a lot of laundry done though now that I have 2 operable machines.  That is the good part!
