Highland Center, in Southeast Iowa | In southeast Iowa, 2009 gave us nearly 150% of our average yearly rainfall, and since the first of December, we've already gotten more than our average annual snowfall, with half of January, all of Feb and March to go yet. We finished corn harvest on 03December, which is a good 2-3 weeks later than normal. We fought rain, mud and ruts the entire time. Would not have been able to finish at all had we not had a MudHog on the combine. Had a 2" snowfall in mid-October. Weather-wise, 2009 will be a memorable one, kinda like the old-timers talk about '34 and '36 around here. |
