Ernie, not sure what specifically she used, but I have been buying some cream in a tube at Dollar Tree for a few years now.  It's called Creamy Petroleum Jelly and they have the regular version of it, as well as one that is lavender scented.  It's surprisingly rich, very satisfying without being gross like regular petroleum jelly.  I carry a tube of it in my truck at all times and put it on my hands while stopped at a light as I'm on my way to work in the mornings.  For $1 it is a great bargain and really works.

Not sure if there are any Dollar Trees in your area but if you have a dollar store they might have it.
