| Can someone recommend where to begin with getting my feet wet on using GPS.
My present equipment (vintage) is not GPS anything.
I have been using the pen and paper technology, but would like to advance some into GPS.
My thoughts of what I would like is to buy a inexpensive handheld unit that I can carry with me when I scout fields, plant, spray try to find that rock I just hit etc etc. Basically, as I am in the field be able to hit a button and then be able to be directed back to this same general loaction for what it is I hit the button for. Being able to calculate area by driving around the field would be nice.
I have never used a GPS, nor do I know what I need. Is there any special software I need. I see they offer roads, topographical, plus specialize farming.
I would think I want topo, but I could be wrong.
I do not have any intentions of variable rate technology at this time, having on board yield monitors etc etc.
Just something basic to get my feet wet without a whole lot of expense.
Anyone point me in the "right direction" ??? | |
