Mike, in the case of a call into a driver that never completed, there often isn't any message.

I agree that for a huge variety of unexplained, mysterious problems, checking the logs is a very good idea. Especially those cases where you left your computer up and running and you come back and it has mysteriously rebooted itself. In those cases, always check the logs.
