Quickbooks (Intuit) likes your money very much especially when it becomes their money. The payroll service fees are one of their favorites. The package that I have at the office just debited my credit card for about $300 bucks for a one year subscription. It lets me do unlimited (I think) payrolls. They go by EIN's. I think a one company subscription is less than that ($189??,the website should tell you). You can still do payroll checks , your just essentially making a journal entry (which you can memorize). it won't do any of the payroll reports either I found out with a client, if you don't have a payroll subscription. In other words if you don't pay the ransom, it's going to be a pretty good bother to write more than just a few paychecks.
