Subject: The Future of Precision Agriculture

Think of the changes agriculture has made in the last 10 years. Now consider the topics below and what the next 10 years have in store. Discuss and enjoy!

1. Machine and implement management capabilities: We have seen new products such as boom section control and implement guidance. What is next? Dynamic variable rate application based on real-time soil information? Automatic combine adjustments made from information from loss and yield sensors? Robotic equipment?

2. Software capabilities and features: Will precision management software be web based thus ensuring security of your information thru timely back-ups? Greater integration with financial applications resulting in more accurate cost of production analysis? The ability to process outside data such as grid sample information?

3. Communication: This is a big one. How will technical support of emerging technology be structured? Would remote access to your in-cab screen be beneficial for support and training? How about streaming data collected at the machine to a central web server? Will there be a standard in communication between brands of equipment?

4. Which manufacturer do you think will lead the way into the future?
