S Illinois | Tony Keith was a partner in a record label that signed Taylor Swift. Tony Keith had teamed up with Scott Borchetta to form Big Machine Label Group. Botchetta was the one who found/signed Swift. Botchetta just didn’t have the infrastructure for a record label. He has left Universal Music where he was promoter, new talent developer and thought he could run a label better than the established ones. So in 2005 he teamed up with Tony Keith who was also looking for a way to promote his own music and the two formed Big Machine of which Botchetta was CEO. Toby had little to do with Taylors rise other than being an investor/owner in a record label that signed her. | |
