He made an off the cuff comment about bombing Iran in his run against Obama - most normal people got a chuckle out of it, but given we we’re currently under Bush who had a mess in Iraq the media ran with it. If I recall correctly McCain was winning in most polls till the 2008 housing crisis hit, then Obama took control.
