This maybe isn't as quick of a fix, but when guys were having trouble with push button style switches, we would change to a rotary height sensor. Basically a rotary switch mounted to frame and linkage to the frame of one of the lift wheels. This gives a percentage of lift instead of on/off, and (at least on precision) the calibration is set to whatever percentage you want it to trip at.
