I remove 16" sweeps with a hammer blow to the top of the shank. I install them by kneeling behind the shank and pulling up firmly on the wings with gloved hands. Most times they will lock in. If they don't they are locked as soon as you drive ahead with it in the ground. Have never lost a sweep unless hitting rocks shears the mounting bolts.
