We are no-till and cover crops. Last year was the best year we have had, lot of other farmers had good yields in the area also. On 1500 acres of corn silage we average 24 ton to the acre. Grain on 900 acres average 180 bushels, would been higher, had about 150 acres that was about 130 bushels. We put on average of 8000 -10000 gallons of dairy manure, according to soil test, and manure management plan. Last year we put 60# N with the planter, 3 gallons of a low salt in furrow starter. Some of the leaf tissue test taken at V5-6 said had enough N. We put 50# lbs at side dress. The alfalfa average 10 ton dry matter. P & K are pretty good, where K weas low we variable rate that on according to soil test. We had the fields Varris run on them, have the fields mapped that way. Organic anywhere from 3.5 to 5.5. We have been using 500 lbs of gypsum last 5 yrs, not using this year cause of the cost. Not sure the name, thinking disuphate 2 gallons with the burn down, 2 gallons with 15 gallons of 32% with planter behind closing wheels, then more at side dress for this year.
