Sometimes, wrong equipment, long trip, better just to say no, my trailer won’t make it. Save your relationship, save your trailer and if something happens , cousin mad at someone else. I have taken old trailers all over the place but a unknown load with unknown tires, brakes and bearings, a 1000 mile trip might be push. I am getting older and while sometimes like abit of challenge, I like to avoid a accident or a lawsuit or being on side of road 300 miles from home and a $1000 isn’t enough to cover expenses or liability. See if your cousin can contact someone on a backhaul, won’t cost much more and you will be money ahead. Sounds like you have a 24 hr trip at 25$ a hr is $600, so rest goes to fuel and you are throwing your pickup and trailer in for free.
