SMS is a one time fee and only on your computer. But....if you want updates then you pay for the yearly "maintenance" after that first year. Start w/ Basic unless you're doing equation based Rx creation or batch printing type stuff. You can always go to Advanced later. Can install the free trial of either one right now and give it a go to see if it will do what you want for import/export


If you weren't dealing w/ ISO stuff I'd say you don't need to worry about paying the yearly as the current and older versions can still do quite a lot. 

But ISO is finicky at best, so you very well may need support and updates to keep it doing what you want. (as you're seeing w/ FW) 

CNH going to the ISO format over the old stuff is a downgrade and will cause plenty of headaches, as you're seeing
