Eastern NE KS
Well, I'll keep watching the calf. She is rapidly growing hair under the blanket. However, legs are mostly naked at day 3.

With the assumption that this is a genetic defect, I reviewed my herd for potential carrier offspring from the calf's parents. Dam has no daughters. With her age, she may be done this year or relegated to feeder calf production. Sire has 5 daughters in the herd He became hamburger after last breeding season.

To my knowledge, AAA is not working on this specific defect with an announced policy. I am obligated and wish to work with AAA to see this through.
