SW Ontario | Not saying the owned operation has no debt, but has the security/equity (1000 acres owned) to buffer difficult times. Therefore banks are more willing to accept a higher debt/EBITDA number. Farms running a high percentage of rented acres are typically higher risks to banks (operating and machinery debt)and therefore it would be expected to be able to pay their debt down faster.
