I think the process will help re-wire your brain paths. I played piano as a kid. Bought a newer one a couple years back and I use that as a brain exercise. I know I'm not ever going to be a professional, but I think it helps keep my brain working. I do notice that memorizing is harder than it was when I was a kid!
