coast of Maine
Here our best most successful is April 16 ish time frame,as long as the frost is all out (this season no frost),under clear poly.We have tried the late March window with the problem of having to be covered way too long leading to yield issues. We have been doing clear poly for near 40 seasons and still get a curve ball now and then.Usually sub 20 acres under clear and the big pain is a possible late freeze after you have pulled covers as the tiny reproductive parts are forming and it means a wipe out if frozen. If I farmed in Southern states I would have it up and growing under vented covers by now.Just a hundred miles north of me they often have deep snow til almost May,,the coast keeps us more barren of snow.
