I also found that very interesting how many lost parents at young ages.
I would guess most had some supportive family members or friends that helped them along. You see kids at vulnerable ages take the wrong path and use certain instances in their lives as an excuse to go off the rails. Where others seem to do alright.
I know a couple of girls that lost their parents at a very young age then lost their grandparents that had adopted them pass away when they were in their late teens. Fortunately, another non family member took them in and told them they were not going through life alone. That's been almost 30 years ago. You never hear the girls complain or use their past as an excuse or crutch. They were fortunate to have good people around them in their lives.
