This probably works most years.
Last May and especially June was incredibly dry.
First 9 days of July were wet.
6” over 9 days.
This probably germinated some of the burs.
My memory of harvest says that 3/4 of the burs germinated prior to July 1 and 1/4 germinated after July 1.
