NW Iowa | Very interesting. I get a kick out of reading old church history. I assume the early services were spoken in the German language. Do you happen to know when the services were changed to English? I am sure there was plenty of controversy when the language change was decided on. My granddad left the church he was baptized and confirmed in and moved his membership to another church in town because his former church conducted services in the Danish language. His new bride did not know Dane and the church elders weren’t about to change to English so he and his new bride packed up and left the Danish Lutheran church. | |
