I used a Toshiba player / recorder to transfer my vhs tapes onto DVD. From there it is no problem to save it to digital. Your biggest problem is that you need a device to play the vhs tapes and connect to the DVD recorder. I am lucky my 1987 Panasonic vhs camcorder still works and used it to play and connect to the DVD recorder. That way I get to edit out any of the long and boring segments and just keep the best. I've put a bunch on my yt channel already. Quality is not bad but poor by today's digital camera standards.
