I will second going to Franklin for the day. If you are not staying downtown, you can park at the football stadium for free and walk across the bridge to Broadway. Breakfast at the pancake pantry that's near Vanderbilt is a great place for breakfast. If you go to the grand Ole opry, take the time to walk through the Gaylord hotel that is close by.
