Hoff, I want to revisit this post on a day when I'm less busy and tired.   Just curious if you could elaborate a little more on how/why you set your timing points for those "eras".   In no way am I saying they are right or wrong, I just feel like the middle is pretty fuzzy.   Export-driven boom of the early 1970s is certainly a dividing mark from everything before.   Then we go to embargo, massive carryovers and farm crisis of 1984-87, drought of 88, flood of 93, $5.54 corn in 1996 followed almost immediately by several crops where LDP was the going thing, ethanol boom for corn, crop beatings and drought 2010-2012, Trump trade wars, COVID, etc. etc.

If you've got some valid thoughts on where to draw the lines, that's cool.   And also, there will be people reading this thread who didn't live a bunch of those events or even hardly know they existed.   Maybe putting the historical context to some of this stuff would be helpful for them.
