0-10 cm root moisture is most important for planting, 0-100 cm is most important during the June-August growing season. Right now, it’s already dry in the top 1-2”. If we don’t get some moisture between here and April we’ll be planting corn 3-4” deep to chase moisture. Could be an issue

We’re a loonnnggggg ways from a disaster, but you can see the outline of what could happen already, best be prepared for either scenario
