East Central South Dakota | We cored our corn bins in December as I am a firm believer in coring bins in December. Market was trending down a dime maybe two so instead of selling I put them on a basis fixed to buy more time to be wrong. The basis wasn't even very good yet. I think you know how this story turns out. An 80-cent downward spiral to the point I rolled into the May with 12 cent carry tacked on as additional testimony to my less than envious position rooted in greed. To your point, just today I put on an offer to sell my peaks at $4.50 May. If my bin corn price averages as well as this peak corn----summer vacations will be a weekend at Motel 6 in Poor City, USA. I am taking a beating and unlike golf, I don't get a mulligan on the position I took. |
