Brookston, IN | Our local ADM elevator was sold a few weeks back and that puts our next closest elevator at nearly 20 miles. I know to some that is still right next door compared to how far a lot of the country has to haul their grain, but we’ve been spoiled forever I guess. Despite the new 20 mile trip to get to the next closest elevator the last 2-3 years elevators getting full when harvest is only 40-60% completed has been a big problem. I feel like there would be a market for a new elevator here that could be built on the rail road. Has anyone ever inquired about doing something like that? A member owned local elevator? Ran by a board of trustees I suppose that could be voted in. | |
