I can make a better and cheaper ration feeding silage, corn, ddg, and stalks/straw than I can just feeding hay alone. Lot less waste too everything is weighed you know exactly what you are feeding. Hard to get it dialed in like that with hay. Easier to just pick up a bale and dump it out there tho.

My rations 20-25 pounds silage per cow but 10 pounds corn ddg.
