yes you can buy it by the load at a discount, get a hold of Dimond K and buy direct if you can or they will give you the name of a local dealer.

Adding the Gypsum to the water ties up the sodium while its in the water in an homogenous way as opposed to spreading and tying up other cations that are fertilizer instead of just sodium. you also have less expense from the spreading pass.

one issue you will need to take care of though is that you have to get your water pH down (to 6.2-6.5) before you inject the gypsum because the bicarbonates in your water will react with it and tie up the calcium making little balls that can plug stuff up. the sulfur burner gypsum injection is a solid 1-2 punch for systems like this.
