Search for posts by Green Acres Guy. He seems to know his stuff with oats.

Reins is a good newer grain oat. They're quite short for oats though so you might look at some of the other newer oats if you want a lot of straw.

Personally I'll only plant Jerry as a cover crop seeded quite late in the fall. Just too disease susceptible otherwise.
