Subject: RE: When is the right time to plant oats?

Right or wrong I’m going to plant my Barley and Peas and Alfalfa tomorrow afternoon after church. Is it too early by the calendar? Yes. Is the ground fit? Yes. Is it extremely dry and still in a drought? Yes. I guess my thinking is get them planted now while it’s fit and then hopefully snow or some rain can get the new seeding to germinate when it does warm up. I’m afraid if we don’t get moisture soon the hay market is going to get crazy wild this summer for the cattle man. I am located in the heart of the drought monitor in north central Iowa. It is the driest ever spring and winter in record for my location according to the old boys in my neighborhood.
