S Illinois | I don’t believe for a second your agronomic practices are the same as they were 5, 10, 20 years ago. Not as simple as planting bin run seed and yields keep going up.
In SRW areas agronomic practices have change drastically in the last 10 years and now 100bu wheat is common vs 60 years ago. It only took varieties bred for high yielding wheat fertilizing for high yield, multiple passes of fungicide, fertilizer, plant growth additives. I have little doubt we would go back to lower yields if we planted the old bin run public wheat seed varieties. Edit: And go back to one pass N fert application with no fungicide.
