Averages make everything look a little better.
If farmers are still sitting on grain, their net worth has declined quite a bit in the past 6 months.
Wheat down 40% since mid summer.
Corn down 15% since September.
I know of at least one farmer that has $8.00 corn from '22 crop still in bags and bins. He's taken a 50% decline in value. Fortunately, that is not me. But explain that to your banker.
22 crop would sure be interesting to see coming out of a bag, unless there is no wildlife around at all including mice and crows, the price drop isn't going to be the biggest problem with that grain, especially if it was 15% or more going in. |
