northeast ohio | That sounds similar to what’s happened east of Columbus, OH.
15 years ago, I helped look for a data center site in our NE Ohio community. There were so many non-negotiable factors such as maximum distance to multiple power sources, fiber connections, minimum distance from rail, earth quake history, etc. that it was a serious challenge. We thought one site would be acceptable but the project went elsewhere. With today’s GIS tools they already know the economics and risks of a site. Farms and rural communities could benefit from utilizing the same resources.
Good news is that economic development landed a major dairy processing plant in that general area a couple years later.
