If the calf is normal, healthy, and hungry, why tube? Dont understand why people jump in with the tube. I've never tubed a calf, saved a bunch without it.
Have had vet tube several and am prolly 30% saved on those.

The vet warned me not to jump the gun with the tube. He said if they're up and strong, try for at least five minutes with the bottle so they have every chance to figure it out. He said if you tube them, it can spoil their urge to suckle. If the calf is down and weak, by all means, sure, tube it and get some colostrum in it ASAP. Best way I've found with the bottle, hold the chin up with one hand, use a nipple with at least a large enough hole so a little bit will run out when you tip it up. You don't want a big flood so they choke, but you need some so they know what they're going for.
