Subject: RE: Migrant farm help

Glenwood, Mn
Dairies around here use h2a except the next door guy who has invested in robots. The large dairies around here have a full time person processing paper work. My experience has been for odds and ends to contact the dairy and send out a few days here and there for labor. Otherwise for the bulk of it we use local help. Of course, as you all realize, that’s drying up. Have to pay $17.50 locally to get a high school kid to show up and do a good job. Not opposed to paying top dollar but I want the good job done, which is where the struggle is.

I’d start with a company that does this full time locally and work from there to learn the ropes to decide if one, it’s a good fit and two, if you want to handle the paperwork long time.

For the life of me I cannot understand why we make it so difficult to get a “permit” to bring people to work legally vs people crossing the border daily. Example, I know I can call xyz guy and pay cash and have 15 people
here tomorrow to do whatever. Want to find a legal immigrant and do it the right way……. I might have 1 or 2……. Then paperwork.
