RR Valley, ND; MN native | Had some insomnia last night (wake in middle of the night, can't get back to sleep)....
I was thinking about the earliest born grandparent in my extended family with a living grandchild.
One of my grandparents was born in 1896 and the youngest grandchild (younger cousin) was born in 1982. So, today there is a 127yr gap. If that grandchild lives to their 80s and dies in the 2060s, the gap would be ~170yrs potentially,
However, my late dad's one grandparent was born in 1847 and there are a several living grandchildren yet, dad's cousins. The youngest of those is 68. That is a gap of 176yrs. If that younger cousin lives to their 80s as well, that adds ~15yrs to that gap getting it to around 190 yrs.
I was thinking for hours about other possible cases that could be longer but that one seems to be the winner. | |
