Subject: RE: Relay cropping beans into oats?

North Central Illinois
My spring seeded cereals always have too many weeds just under the canopy to grow a second crop without tillage after harvest.

I'm just now pondering what to do with some corn stalks that I'm grazing ewes on now. To even things up it has to be beans in 2025. I'm contemplating spreading oats in March and disking then in and then taking them as baleage in early June and planting beans. That's worked well before.

Oats for grain followed by a second crop of buckwheat could also accomplish your goal of a little more income than oats alone.
