Subject: RE: Parts location tracking software

Floyd County, Iowa
Here is a copy of the Excel Inventory I designed for use at work, Anthony Bill Trucking.
.
I designed it to use a scanner, because almost every part has a SKU on it.
No, you do not have to use a scanner, you can use part name, or part number.
Handheld scanners are so cheap now. I think our rechargeable handheld from Amazon was like $35.
No, we do not have or use our own SKU's.
Whatever SKU is on the part, just becomes the SKU in the system.
.
All parts must be entered into the Units tab first.
If you have a handheld scanner, you can scan in the SKU of the part.
1) place the icon in the SKU box in the Units tab
2) scan the SKU of the part, it posts the SKU in the box
No, it will not post the rest of the part information, you put that in yourself.
.
DO NOT CHANGE THE HEADER NAMES, the search functions will no longer work
Unit_Type is the part number.
Unit_Lead is the part location.
.
Even if you do not have a handheld scanner, you are typing most of the information in anyway.
But later, is when having a scanner shines.
Using the SKU's, with Scan IN or OUT tab, it automatically adds or subtracts from your on hand stock.
.
Once the part information is in the Units tab, it is now searchable with the search tabs.
- Part SKU search tab (scan a SKU to see if it is in your Units tab)
- Part number search tab (will search the Units tab for any number/letter combination that you type in the box)
- Part name search tab (will search the Units tab for any letter combination that you type in the box)
.
Part Number Search and Part Name Search are locked. (no password)
Mainly because the heart of the search function is hidden in columns B, C, and D.
If you play around in there, make a backup before you do.
.
I took all of our stuff out, and left just the bare minimum and examples.
Some of you older gents might get the BR549 reference. haha
Miss watching that show with Mom and Dad.
.
Have a good day
.
.
Edit
removed this copy of the file
explanation and new file in next post
