I grew up in Northeast Iowa, where there were and still are lot of family dairies. In my career in the ag industry, i have lived in several areas of the country and it’s interesting to see places that used to be dairy country. Amazing to see how many no longer used Harvestore silos there are even in places like East Alabama, North Georgia, and Tennessee. Guessing the 80’s got them like everywhere else. Still a pretty good pocket of large family run dairies in East TN.
I guess back in the day, the dairies had to be fairly close to the population centers. Now milk can be easily trucked long distances.
