We considered what you are suggesting but the dirt and rock contamination keeps it off limit for our chopper. We graze most acres but we have one circle that we need to spread and prep this fall to lighten next spring's work. So I am swathing and running it through the baler, then will get ground for bedding later. A direct cut head would work nicely but will leave way to much residue " like 40% or more"

Rocks concern me. And rill irrigated fields. I just hate to leave the stalks and try to plant triticale through them. Seems logical to put the stalks through the cow then spread the manure back. Better than buying so much straw
