We've been chopping the corn stalks after we combine high moisture grain corn for several years. Makes awesome heifer and dry cow feed! Mow with our twin kuhn disc mower conditioners, tip back as high as possible. Rake with a twin rotary rake, adjust height as needed to not disturb dirt. Chop with the pickup head on the chopper, use a 3/8" LOC. Long as ground conditions are good you get very very little dirt in the feed. We used a rotary brush mower the first couple years to mow stalks, but the disc mower puts less dirt in the feed and is much faster.
