There are at last three different styles of buttons for ear tags. All of them look very similar, but the applicator pins have juuuuuust enough difference between them that they tend to screw up competitors’ buttons.
I’ve had good results with a Ritchey cloverleaf button and a Ritchey pin.
Y-Tex is my second favorite if that’s what’s available.
All-flex is my least favorite, mainly because of button loss. It’s rarely a tag issue that causes problems if they fall off before a year or two of use.
