Western New York | We have always raised our own cattle and tag the calves when they were first born and have had no problems with the Y-Tex tags. However more recently we have started buying feeder between 500 and 900lbs and have been struggling to get a tag into their ears. When I attempt to put the tag in the animals eat the back piece breaks off at the base of the flared end with the metal tip. I think the heavier/thicker ears of the older animals is what is causing the tag to snap. I have used a few different types of taggers, all resulting in the same issue. I am looking for recommendations on tags or taggers that work better. Thanks!
