Southwestern Minnesota | A dietitian's perspective here-
It would be nice if it was as easy as correlating blood glucose readings to your diet and what you eat. Unfortunately, there are many other variables, and in your case the major effects of your chemotherapy drugs. Other factors like activity, stress, hormones, your gastric function, illness, etc are also factors. Controlling your carbohydrate intake and having it be consistent is important. Trying to be consistent with your meal times and including protein and fat at each meal will also help slow down the absorption of the carbohydrates. The most important thing though is that you keep your nutritional status as good as you can, so that you can tolerate the treatments and have as good of an outcome as possible. | |
