Some times the rubber plunger will separate from the drop rod.If it comes up with out the plunger you have found the issue.Then use water pressure to hopefully blow plunger up pipe.This issue has been the main problem with our hydrants.There are over a dozen on this farm so with the "new" ones it seems at least once year issues arise .
