Pittsburg, Kansas | Here is a guy that is trying to answer this question. He is one of many in a group of what he coined lean mass hyper responders to a low carb diet. They have had exceptionally high LDL levels after going on the diet. For many people, like myself and my wife, our LDL didn't change much after going on a low carb diet. But we were not lean! Our HDL went up (good) and triglycerides went down (good). But a small percentage of lean people have high LDL levels on a low carb ketogenic diet. Does it matter as far as heart disease goes? He has some preliminary data and goes over it in this interview. Local doctors may freak out at the high LDL number. But is it really all that important considering all their other blood and health markers improved????
I had a chance to listen to this speaker at the low carb cruise I went on recently. Dave Feldman.

Another doctor on the subject who was also on the cruise and spoke, Dr Ken Berry.
